Pseudo-3D Video Conferencing with a Generic Web cam
Chris Harrison and Scott Hudson have developed a method;
"for producing a pseudo-3D experience using only a single generic web cam at each end. This means nearly any computer currently able to video conference can use our technique, making it readily adoptable. Although using comparatively simple techniques, the 3D result is convincing. "
This idea seems like an interesting step towards immersive telepresence, but behind the scenes, it relies on a clever illusory trick (motion parallax) and head-tracking.
